Play Preview: Spring Musical "Firebringer" | Monarch Media

This upcoming spring, Trinity Hall’s very own Queens Court Company (QCC) is putting on a production of “Firebringer” in March. The QCC is always successful in executing its productions and making the story come to life. This fall, the QCC performed “The Learned Ladies” which has left Trinity Hall in anticipation of the next show. “Firebringer” is a musical comedy that takes place in the prehistoric era, following a tight-knit tribe as they learn what it means to work, have fun and most importantly, experience life's many lessons.

Grace Sullivan ‘24, head of set and lighting for QCC said, “It is about cave women who discover fire. It sounds simple but the show is absolutely hilarious.” Sullivan says she is excited to work on the sets and lighting. “The set is a cave/forest setting so there is so much creative freedom. Additionally, the lighting will be super fun because I get to experiment with making fake fire.”

Mrs. Phillips, the director of QCC says, “I am most excited for two things. First I am so excited for everyone to see how funny this play is. We are laughing almost every minute in rehearsal. The cast really has the perfect understanding of the comedy of this play and it shows in some brilliant performances! Second, I am so excited for the special effects we are working on for the play.”

Greta Senft ‘24 and Emily Rae Johns ‘25 are playing two of the main leads in the musical. Both actresses will bring their talents on the stage to the production. Emily Rae describes “Firebringer” as “a super funny, quirky, and witty show that answers the question: what if women were the ones who discovered fire?” Johns also says, “Behind the upbeat songs and dances are social commentaries on the world today, messages that can certainly unite cavewomen to everyday people in the funniest ways possible.” Johns is very passionate about this production and can’t wait to see it on stage.

Not only does QCC produce wonderful actresses, but it also consists of students who run the “behind the scenes” and make sure the play can be brought to life. Sullivan added, “QCC is so special because it is basically a big group of friends. It promotes a sense of community within Trinity Hall and it is a comfortable creative outlet for anyone to express themselves.” The arts at Trinity Hall are truly one of the most special things about the school because of the creative and talented students who form it.

“Firebringer” is being performed at Brookdale Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m. Make sure to buy tickets and come out to support the students and faculty who worked hard over the winter!
