Score: Varsity Placed 3rd in Varsity “B” Race; and Freshmen Placed 3rd in Freshman Girls 2500m Run

Monarch(s) of the Meet: Kate Hegel '22 and Ally Perri '21
Kate Hegel ’22 helped the Monarchs to a 3rd place finish by running a time of 17:44 for the Varsity 2.5 miles race. Kate demonstrated her grit by remaining competitive and keeping the Trinity Hall pack tight within a very strong field of runners. Ally Perri’ 21 led the JV team with a strong finish by recording a time of 20:35. These two Monarchs persevered through tough conditions to help their teams achieve strong overall performances.
 
Highlights:
The Trinity Hall XC team trekked up to Van Cortlandt Park on a hot Saturday morning to compete against a strong field of New Jersey and New York schools. Van Cortlandt Park is a historically challenging and hilly course. The freshmen squad kicked off the day with strong performances in the Freshman 2500m run. Eileen Bergin '23 led the freshmen to a 3rd place finish by placing 4th individually with a time of 10:52. Molly Marks '23 and Logan Connor ’23 ran as a strong pack with times of 11:57 and 11:59, respectively. Ally Lupu ’23 and Ella Dougherty’ 23 completed our freshmen pack by recording times of 12:11 and 13:00. The Varsity “B” race (2.5 miles) was a highly competitive field of NJ and NY schools. Our Varsity squad demonstrated their toughness by sticking with the top runners through very hot conditions. Haven Dora '22 (16:44), Madeline Barber '22 (16:50), and Ally Lawson ’21 (16:57) led the varsity team to an overall 3rd place team finish. Grace Child '22 and Kate Hegel '22 had very strong performances with times of 17:42 and 17:44, keeping our top five finishers within a minute of each other. Lucy Retterer ’21 and Cecilia Peters ’21 completed our varsity pack by finishing with times of 19:11 and 20:17, respectively. Our JV squad was led by Ally Perri ‘21 who placed in the top third of her race with a time of 20:35. Katherine McCarthy ‘21, Ellie Thompson ‘22, Caroline Page ‘21 and Elizabeth Page ‘22 rounded out the JV team to complete a day of strong racing. The Monarchs will be back in action this Saturday as they compete in the Stewart Memorial Invitational.
