Signing Day 2024 is in the books! On November 13, Trinity Hall recognized the Monarch student-athletes who have committed to colleges and universities to pursue their athletic careers. The Trinity Hall community gathered in the Commons to view the Signing Day ceremony, a special moment for students, family members, and the school. This year, seven athletes committed to college for athletics, making it the second-largest number in Trinity Hall’s history. This year’s committed athletes were Virginia Avery (lacrosse at Bates College), Cate Bonan (cross country/track at Davidson College), Maxine Camillone (swimming at Fordham University), Mary Catherine O’Connor (lacrosse at Princeton University), Lilly Riggi (basketball at East Stroudsburg University), Mia Smith (swimming at The College of Holy Cross), and Lily Wood (lacrosse at Georgetown University), respectively.
This tradition is one many students look forward to and enjoy each year. “Signing day was an exciting event that strongly reflected the supportive nature of our school. It is a great tradition that I not only enjoyed participating in this year but have enjoyed watching throughout my four years at Trinity Hall,” shared Bonan.
The recruiting journey for these student-athletes began as early as June 15 of their sophomore year of high school, making Signing Day a much anticipated, yet seemingly far-away event. Avery stated, “It was definitely a long journey and a lot of hours put into this, but it was worth it when I found a place that was perfect for me.”
Not only have these students excelled athletically, but they have also showcased their hard work academically. “Trinity Hall is proud of the effort and dedication these seven student-athletes put forth to achieve their goals,” said Robert Bagley, Athletic Director. “We are excited for them to have the opportunity to excel athletically and academically at some of the top universities in the country. We are looking forward to a time when we can welcome these young women back to mentor the next generation of Trinity Hall student-athletes.” Trinity Hall’s rigorous academics may, at times, be difficult to balance between sports and other activities, but these student-athletes, along with the many others at Trinity Hall, demonstrate what it means to be a Monarch.
Trinity Hall’s committed athletes have put in tremendous amounts of effort in order to continue to play sports at a collegiate level. O’Connor ‘25 shared, “Making it to this moment in my senior year came with a lot of work, both athletically and academically since I was in eighth grade, and I couldn't have done it without my teammates, coaches, and teachers!”
Not only do these students work exceptionally hard, but they also have a strong support system at Trinity Hall in order to guide them on their path to success. “Trinity Hall has had a very positive impact on my college lacrosse recruiting process. Both my college counselor, Mrs. Morreale, and my coach, Coach L, have shown me so much support!” said Wood.
Throughout their years at Trinity Hall, these students showcase Trinity Hall’s core values and are role models for the Trinity Hall community: “I’m so excited to start this next chapter of my life. Trinity Hall has been an instrumental factor in making my decision given the fact that the community is extremely tight-knit, something that I was really looking for in a school. Fordham’s swim and dive team exemplified exactly that; my future teammates and coaches strived to find a new incoming class of freshmen who modeled leadership, respect, perseverance, and faith, just as Trinity Hall does.” stated Camillone.
These accomplishments are the result of incredible and extensive work and dedication, both in and out of school. Smith stated, “I am so grateful and fortunate to be where I stand in the collegiate process as an official Division I athlete. I am so glad I stuck with swimming and committed myself to all those early morning practices because I would not be here without it."
Congratulations to these Monarchs for their hard work and amazing achievements!
