As Trimester 2 came to an end, Trinity Hall’s spring musical, "The Hello Girls," opened at Brookdale Community College Performing Arts Center. The cast and company worked tirelessly since the beginning of December and their efforts paid off in an exquisite production. "The Hello Girls" showcased the resilience of the women in the Bell Battalion Telephonic Ladies’ Switchboard Unit No. 1 and their efforts in helping the United States Army win World War I, known at the time as the “Great War." The cast and crew had the unique opportunity to bring to life some of these influential women during the weekend of International Women’s Day, Saturday, March 8.
“'The Hello Girls' has been such a fun and interesting adventure. I have loved going back to the style of a ‘classic’ musical and we have all learned so much about these amazing women that actually existed! This production came together in such a beautiful way and we were thrilled to share this great story with our community,” said Mrs. Phillips, Director of "The Hello Girls" and Trinity Hall theater teacher.
While the community had the opportunity to see this musical over the course of three days, the performers, musicians, costume and set crews have been working for months to pay tribute to this powerful story of American history. Lead actress and Trinity Hall junior Delaney Corrigan, said, “'The Hello Girls' was truly an amazing experience that I will never forget. The amazing women of the Bell Battalion Telephonic Ladies’ Switchboard Unit No. 1 were true trailblazers of their time, and they demonstrated what sisterhood is all about. The incredibly talented women and men in the QCC did an excellent job of bringing this story to life, and I am honored to have been a part of it.”
The hard work and dedication of all QCC members was evident throughout each performance, and the accurate portrayal of characters on the stage was inspiring for audience members to witness. Those on stage were also moved by the storyline and performances. “It puts you through such a range of emotions, going from 'Je M’en Fiche' to 'See You on the Other Side.' It's just such a dramatic change,” said Ella Paoni ‘25, ensemble actress.
From the astounding music in the pit, the incredible performances of QCC performers, and the behind-the-scenes work of the costumes and sets crew, it was a perfect weekend and a wonderful way to celebrate both International Women's Day and Women’s History Month!
