As we enter into March and the winter sports season comes to a close, the varsity ice hockey team, which has had its most successful season in Trinity Hall history, deserves to be celebrated. Trinity Hall is one of the few high schools in New Jersey, and the singular one on the Jersey Shore, to offer a girls ice hockey team. Despite the program only being established seven years ago, the Monarchs are quickly making a name for themselves.
Trinity Hall had its best win-to-loss ratio to date with 15 regular season wins, five losses and two ties during the regular season. Goalkeeper Katie Cisar ‘26 had a total of 706 saves this season and a failed save percentage of only 0.944%. Defensewoman Sienna DeAngelis ‘27 scored 49 goals and 10 hat tricks this season alone, deeming her New Jersey’s leading scorer. Both of these athletes were All-State and All-Conference selections. Captain Bridie Fitzgerald ‘25 and Sydney Sun ‘26 were also selected as honorable mentions for the conference. As a team, 91 goals were scored, making the Monarchs the highest scoring team in the state. Their passion, teamwork and dedication carried them to postseason tournaments.
On February 13, the team defeated Kent Place with an incredible 4-1 win at the Girls Ice Hockey Cohen Cup Championship Game. Head Coach Frankie Francese commented, "This was a special season for the ice hockey program. After seven years, we were able to win our first Divisional Cup Championship! This win was a result of the efforts of everyone on the team. During the first round game, we had six different players score a goal and five different players record an assist. In the finals, Ryan Rawlins ‘25 got us started with a great goal with Sydney Sun and Fiona McAllister ‘28 assisting on the play. That goal was followed by a hat trick from the state's leading scorer – Sienna DeAngelis. Our goalie, Katie Cisar kept the game out of reach by stopping 33 of 34 shots against. Throughout this game every player on the team made one good play after the next and after 45 minutes – history was made for Trinity Hall ice hockey!" It is safe to say that all of the ice hockey team’s hard work paid off this winter.
The Monarchs made it all the way to the NJSIAA State Semifinals, only the second time in program history the team has made it this far. Unfortunately, after a close game, the Monarchs lost to Immaculate Heart Academy. That is not to say the season did not end on a positive note. Virginia Avery ‘25 reflected on the 2025 season, “I’m so incredibly proud of everyone and will miss this team next year. Throughout my four years, this was my best season yet and I can’t wait to see everything my teammates will go on to do.” After the many achievements this season, the Trinity Hall community is excited for everything that will be accomplished in the future as the program continues to expand.
