Throughout Trinity Hall’s twelve years of history, there is no doubt that its athletes shoot for the stars in regards to athletic commitments. Many students in the past have attended highly competitive universities for athletics, and this year proves to be no exception. The senior class of 2025 holds 78 students, and of that number, ten are pursuing their athletics careers at the collegiate level. In recent months, three of these student athletes, Bella Anzevino ‘25, Sophia LaTourette ‘25 and Caitlin Williams ‘25, have announced their commitments to the University of St. Andrews, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), and The United States Naval Academy, respectively. These schools both hold unique qualities, with St. Andrews located overseas in Scotland, and the Naval Academy being a military preparatory school.
Anzevino will be playing women’s soccer, and provided some insight into the recruitment process of a school outside of the United States. “The recruitment process with St. Andrews was actually very similar to what I experienced with schools in the U.S. The biggest difference was simply the distance—it was harder to visit multiple times compared to schools here,” Anzevino said.
LaTourette will become a member of RPI’s track and field team next year, competing in throwing events for the team. While LaTourette is not the first Monarch to pursue track and field beyond Trinity Hall, she is the first student to sign to a school for field events, as well as the first student to attend RPI. Currently, she is finishing out her senior season, preparing for the next step in her academic and athletic journey.
Additionally, Williams will be competing in women’s triathlon at the Naval Academy through their Foundation Program. During the recruitment process, she forged a strong connection with her future coach, Billy Edwards. Williams commented, “Whenever we spoke about recruiting, he always asked how I was doing or what I planned to do that weekend, which reminded me that I am more than my sport and academics.”
Not only will these three students be playing their respective sports at extremely competitive levels, but they will also be attending schools with rigorous academics. The curriculum provided at Trinity Hall has given a high level of preparation to these athletes who have set their sights on amazing goals.
Anzevino, LaTourette and Williams will serve as role models to the lower grades of Trinity Hall, and are a reminder that any goal can be achieved with hard work and commitment. Congratulations to these ladies on their incredible accomplishments in both the academic and athletic fields! The Trinity Hall community cannot wait to watch you thrive.
