The Queen’s Court Company Presents “The Book of Will” | Monarch Media

On Thursday, November 20, the curtain rose on Trinity Hall’s fall play, “The Book of Will.” The play, a mix of drama and comedy, was based on a true story. It depicted the remaining members of “The Kingsmen,” Shakespeare’s production company, coming together to gather and print Shakespeare’s work in order to prevent pirating after his death. The cast and crew of the production had worked tirelessly under the tight timeline of three months in order to perform this exceptional show.

"I was so happy and proud to see all the hard work displayed in such professional fashion last weekend. The entire cast, from the actors to the Crowning Crew, came together to tell a sophisticated and interesting story. It was a very proud moment for myself and the Queen's Court Company. Thank you to everyone involved and our community for the support," said Mrs. Ellen Phillips, production director and theatre teacher.

The actresses and actors of the Queen’s Court Company (QCC) were incredibly impressive, seamlessly blending Shakespearean language with modern dialect, enrapturing the audience. Beyond the acting, the sets, costumes, and production of the play all worked to transport the audience into the Shakespearean world. The backstage crew played a significant role in piecing the play together. The set team had collected boxes from the school community for weeks and transformed them into shelves of ornate books. The costume crew sewed detailed attire for every actress and actor on stage, from proper breeches to Renaissance-style gowns. The hair and makeup, lights, sound, and stage crew all had a part in the show reaching its full potential.

Joy Ogunsakin ‘26, co-lead actress in the play, stated, “‘The Book of Will’ was a heartwarming experience for me. Rehearsals felt like home. The cast and crew are a part of my family, and sharing this story felt like opening the door and offering a piece of my home for the Trinity Hall community to enjoy.”

The talent and dedication from every member of the QCC was evident through the astounding performance witnessed by audience members alike. “I absolutely loved the show,” says audience member Aoife Oldroyd ‘27. “The hard work put into the show paid off and left viewers dazzled, and the uproarious applause was well deserved.”

Congratulations to the QCC; the Trinity Hall community looks forward to seeing what will be accomplished with the spring musical!
