On January 20, Trinity Hall’s basketball team welcomed the community for their fan day as the team faced off against Colts Neck. On January 21, the hockey team also held a fan day, where they played Cranford. Both teams came home with a victory, and the energy in the crowds was electric!
Fan days at Trinity Hall are a cherished part of the community and they truly are living proof of how supportive the student body is towards each other. Fans at the basketball game packed the bleachers. Kailyn Fitzgerald ‘27 was in the stands at the fan day and stated, “It was so fun to watch my friends on the court. Their team work really showed their perseverance and leadership throughout the game!” The team won their game and the fans brought extra spirit into the crowd by all participating in a “black out” that brought everyone together by dressing in black attire.
This spirit was carried over into the following evening as the ice hockey team played Cranford at their annual outdoor game at Navesink Country Club. Team member Gabby DeSimone ‘27 stated, “The Navesink game is always something the hockey team looks forward to. Playing under the lights and with the beautiful landscape of the Navesink Country Club is such a great experience that we are fortunate to have.” The outdoor game was quite exciting for everyone on the ice and for the fans cheering the team on as well.
While the temperature was extremely low, the energy in the crowd and amongst the team was not. DeSimone continued, “It was very cold but over the last few years, the team has come up with some ways to stay warm while playing, like wearing hot hands in our skates and wearing gloves under our hockey gloves. Despite the chilly conditions, the game was so much fun and I am looking forward to playing at Navesink again next year!”
The fan days organized by the Athletics Council are events that everyone in the community loves and celebrates. As the winter sports season progresses, the community anticipates many more fan days to come!
