Trinity Hall’s varsity basketball team has added on to their extensive list of achievements, with the newest addition being extra-special. On January 21, Grace Feeney ‘26 scored her 1000th career point, an incredible feat in the basketball community. The count began in Feeney’s freshman year at Trinity Hall and ended with her achieving the goal midway through her senior year. This year, Feeney has totalled 336 points, with the season still ongoing.
This achievement comes as no surprise to the Trinity Hall community. Feeney, who is committed to play Division I basketball at Bucknell University this coming fall, has shown her capability and skill throughout her high school career. She has been a consistent high scorer for the Monarchs and is a standout leader on the team. Head Coach Matt McCarthy of the Monarchs remarked on Grace’s work ethic and attitude, “Grace has always wanted to get better and she never shied away from doing extra. Grace is so humble and never spoke openly about it. She knew the 1,000 point goal was getting closer but I really believe what she loved most about the accomplishment was celebrating with her teammates.”
Not only has Feeney shown her strong work ethic on the court, but she has also proven to be a solid and reliable leader and teammate off the court. Teammate Whitney Hobson ‘26 said, “I have had the privilege to play with Grace the last four years. She is an extremely hardworking and kind person who not only makes me a better basketball player but a better person.”
The 1,000th point was scored in a game against Holmdel, with the Monarchs ending up on top in a win of 57-35. Feeney scored 20 points, two assists, and nine rebounds. The Monarchs finished the season 20-8 overall and 7-3 in the competitive Shore Conference. Congratulations to the Feeney and the varsity basketball team on an outstanding season!
