Trinity Hall Soccer Makes History with First Shore Conference Tournament Championship

Trinity Hall Soccer made history on Saturday, capturing the Shore Conference Tournament title for the first time in program history with an overtime victory over Toms River South. The milestone win capped an impressive run defined by perseverance, teamwork and outstanding defensive play.

Senior Kailyn Fitzgerald delivered the decisive moment with 5:45 remaining in the first overtime. After receiving a lead pass down the left sideline, Fitzgerald chipped a shot toward goal, the ball tipped off the goalkeeper’s hand before rolling into the net, securing the championship for the Monarchs. Motivated by last season’s championship loss to Manalapan, the Monarchs returned to the series finale determined to finish what they had started.

Throughout the tournament, Trinity Hall’s defense proved to be a defining strength, shutting out every opponent on the way to the title. The Monarchs earned their place in the final with a semifinal victory over Central in a penalty shootout, where goalkeeper O’Neal Hile played a key role. Hile continued to deliver crucial saves against Toms River South, making eight saves throughout the game, while the team’s backline helped preserve the shutout through regulation and into overtime.

Saturday’s final presented its own challenges, as Toms River South received a red card midway through the game, leaving Trinity Hall with a player advantage for the remainder of the match. The Monarchs earned a penalty kick following the foul, but the attempt was saved, keeping the game scoreless until Fitzgerald’s overtime goal.
