Biography

Mike Kabash earned his Bachelor's degree in history with a minor in music from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he also played baseball. He then completed his Master's degree in teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University, and began his career in education at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in New York City.

Hungry to return home to the Garden State, Mike next taught music at his alma mater in Rumson, followed by an eight-year tenure at St. Mary School in Middletown where he built and coordinated a large-scale integrated music and performing arts program that included choir, band, lessons, and musical theater. His efforts were recognized in 2016 with SMS’s first Teacher of the Year award.

Mike is also a versatile multi-instrumentalist with performance and music directing experience ranging from the Jersey Shore to Theatre Row.  He has been closely involved with the Monarch Music program, too, directing the music ministry, orchestra and musicals.

At Trinity Hall, Mike serves as the technology coordinator, bringing his extensive experience in managing technology and coordinating educational programs. After enjoying his first year here in the history classroom, Mike noticed that a common thread connecting his varied experiences as an educator includes a focus on finding how technology can be utilized in support of the learning community. Of course, after spending a while surfing around the server room, for Mike, there’s nothing quite like catching a wave in the North Atlantic to end the day on the right note.
